Turnovers

Last year, the Buffalo Bills did an excellent job making sure their drives ended with some kind of points, either a touchdown or field goal, and they finished the year with over 45% of their drives ending in points. However, it seemed like if the Bills’ drive didn’t end in points it would end in a turnover.

While the Bills did a good job avoiding fumbles, only turning over six times, Josh Allen struggled at times with interceptions. The 15 interceptions by Allen, along with one from Mitchell Trubisky, was the eighth highest total in the league.

The Buffalo Bills are fortunate enough to have a good defense that usually stepped up when those occasions happen and the offense was good enough that they would score enough that it didn’t matter. However, the turnover battle is usually one that has a high correlation with winning and the team that turns the ball over fewer usually comes away with the win.

Josh Allen recognized that turnovers were an issue and during OTAs was asked about what he is trying to improve on this year and this was one of the first things he mentions. The Buffalo Bills franchise quarterback has made unprecedented improvements over the years and this is one of the final pieces that can eliminate any question about him being the top quarterback in the league.
