Isaiah McKenzie

2022 stat line prediction:  28 receptions, 350 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

The player that Crowder will likely concede some snaps to is Isaiah McKenzie, who returned to Buffalo on a two-year deal. He has primarily been a gadget player during his time in this offense but showed last year that he can be very effective out of the slot.

In Week 16 against the New England Patriots, McKenzie started in place of Beasley and had 11 receptions, 125 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He brought good quickness and speed to the position that was lacking and ran deeper crossing routes that Josh Allen was able to capitalize on in that game.

Crowder doesn’t have the speed to run those types of routes and that is why McKenzie should be rotated in during the game. If McKenzie reaches 350 receiving yards this season, it would be the first time in his career that he has broken 300.

Khalil Shakir

2022 stat line prediction:  14 receptions, 182 receiving yards, 0 touchdown

Finally is Khalil Shakir, who the Buffalo Bills drafted in the fifth round out of Boise State. The depth the team has at the position will likely limit Shakir’s impact as a rookie unless there is an injury to one of the players ahead of him on the depth chart.

He will likely see some playing time during the course of the year but it wouldn’t be surprising if he saw snaps more in the gadget-type role where the coaching staff gets creative in getting him the ball. This could mean on screens or taking handoffs out of the backfield.
