While the Miami Dolphins may have the best safety duo of the future among the AFC East teams, entering this year that top spot still belongs to the Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde of the Buffalo Bills. Both players joined the Bills in 2017 as free agents and have developed into one of the top duos in the league due in large part to how well they complement each other.

Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer can really do anything a team might want from a player at this position from playing closer to the line to help against the run because of their sound tackling but also being able to drop back into coverage. This ability to interchange the responsibilities for the players helps the coaching staff disguise plays and confuse offenses.

Poyer would finish the season with 93 total tackles, five interceptions, and three sacks while Hyde had 74 total tackles, five interceptions, and one sack. Both players earned All-Pro nominations with Poyer being named to the first-team and Hyde named to second-team.

The question is how much longer the Bills might have this duo as Poyer is entering the final year of his contract and Hyde is under contract for only two more years. While that is the long-term question, at least for this season there is no question that Buffalo has the best safety duo in the AFC East.
