The Buffalo Bills signed Rodger Saffold and matched the contract to Ryan Bates to bring both players in to be the starting guards for the team this season. However, Saffold was signed to only a one-year deal and there are still some questions if Bates is a long-term answer after he has only six career starts (including playoffs) with five of those starts at the end of last year.

It would make sense that the Bills would spend a lot of time on the interior offensive line class leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft and Kyler Schott could be a great option to address this need.

Schott has been a starting guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes for basically the past three seasons and excels as a run-blocker, something the Buffalo Bills could lose if they didn’t bring back Saffold after this season. According to Pro Football Focus, he was the highest-graded run blocker in the Big Ten last season.

While he might not be a player that would automatically step in as a starter his rookie season, he certainly has the talent to compete for that spot and could help the offensive line.
