Last year, the pass rush was one of the biggest weaknesses for the Buffalo Bills defense, and general manager Brandon Beane made it a point to address it this offseason by signing Von Miller which put the rest of the AFC East on notice.

Meanwhile, it was the New England Patriots and New York Jets who spent big in free agency last year to add their top pass rusher with the additions of Matthew Judon and Carl Lawson respectively.

Each team has at least one player that offensive coordinators are going to have to gameplan and stop as they have the talent to really disrupt an offense. These are the five best pass rushers in the AFC East entering 2022.

Carl Lawson. 5. player. 30. . .

Starting these rankings was one of those free agents signed last year with the New York Jets adding Carl Lawson. He started his career with the Cincinnati Bengals and had an excellent rookie season with 8.5 sacks but only played seven games his sophomore season before suffering a torn ACL.

In the last two years with the Bengals, he didn’t replicate the level of play his rookie season with only 10.5 sacks over that stretch. The Jets weren’t too concerned and signed Lawson to a three-year, $45 million contract but Lawson didn’t get a chance to play for his new team as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during training camp.

The potential is certainly there but Lawson will need to prove it this season to move up these rankings.
