Re-grading the Buffalo Bills top free agent signings from 2021
Contract: 1 year, $6 million
The Buffalo Bills made a significant change at wide receiver when they released John Brown, who was a starting wide receiver the prior two seasons. He had some excellent seasons in Buffalo but due to cap reasons, the Bills would release Brown.
He was replaced by Emmanuel Sanders, who would sign a one-year deal with the Bills. The hope was that Sanders would be a veteran presence at the position and give Josh Allen a wide receiver who could stretch the field.
Early in the season, this looked like it would be a great move as Sanders averaged 68 receiving yards per game and had four touchdowns in the first six weeks.
However, as the season progressed Sanders wasn’t nearly as effective and would lose the starting job to Gabriel Davis by the end of the year when he would suffer a knee injury.
The Buffalo Bills did not bring back the veteran wide receiver this offseason and it would appear his time in Western New York has come to an end after only one season.
