Tommy Doyle

Tommy Doyle is one who has steadily seen his role grow in this offense through his rookie season and even more so this offseason. Tommy Doyle was a fifth round pick by the Buffalo Bills last year and was the second offensive tackle the team took in the 2021 NFL Draft after selecting Spencer Brown in the third round.

Through the first 12 weeks of last season, Doyle was inactive or didn’t play in six of them. However, he started to see the field more in the final four weeks of the regular season as a sixth offensive lineman on run plays, similar to what Lee Smith did for this offense when he was with the Bills.

The Bills saw their run game improve in the latter parts of last season and Doyle certainly helped in that regard. He should play a similar role this season but also could be looking at a position change.

During OTAs, Doyle was practicing inside at guard with Rodger Saffold absent for these workouts. This versatility could make him very important to the offensive line and he essentially could be a backup for four of the five positions along the line.
