Donald Payne

Donald Payne was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 to 2019 and appeared in 30 games with five starts, all of which came during the 2019 season. He had a very impressive stretch in those five starts with 13 or more total tackles in four of those games.

He has continued that strong play this season in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers and has arguably been the best linebacker in the league. In nine games, Payne has 108 total tackles, two sacks, two interceptions (one of which he returned for a touchdown), and six passes defended.

The Buffalo Bills have some questions for their final spot on the depth chart at linebacker with the recent news that Andre Smith would be suspended to start the season.

A player like Donald Payne could make perfect sense as he has experience as a starting linebacker. In addition to that, he also played extensively on special teams during his time with the Jaguars by playing 50% or more of the special teams snaps each season.
