The United States Football League (USFL) is entering the final week of the regular season of its inaugural season. While the level of play hasn’t been at the same level as the NFL, there have been a number of players who have played well in this league that could earn a spot on an NFL roster, including on the Buffalo Bills.

For the Bills, they have a very good roster but with a few spots still open, general manager Brandon Beane could look at these three players in the USFL to round out the 90-man roster with training camp next month.

Victor Bolden Jr.

The first player is one that previously was with the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Victor Bolden Jr. He was signed by the Bills off the 49ers practice squad during the 2018 season. He would remain with the team through the 2019 offseason but be released prior to the season.

During his time with the Bills in 2018, he was primarily a kick returner and had five kick returns with an average of 23.3 yards per return. In the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions, he has continued to show his return ability with an average of 24.5 yards per kickoff return and 8.8 yards per punt return while also adding 397 receiving yards.

It is worth noting that the rules in the USFL are very different than the NFL and the return team needs a majority of the players between the 35 and 45 yards line. The hope is for more big plays so this formation certainly works in Victor Bolden Jr.’s favor.

However, the Buffalo Bills do still have a need with no clear option to return kicks this season. They did sign Tavon Austin recently to join the competition but adding someone like Victor Bolden Jr. could be a good addition to this competition.
