Running Backs: Chase Edmonds, Myles Gaskin, Raheem Mostert, Sony Michel

Like many positions, the Miami Dolphins made heavy investments in the running back position in free agency in the hope to help Tua Tagovailoa take that next step in his career.

The Dolphins do have Myles Gaskin back, who was the leading rusher with 612 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also playing a big role in the passing game with 49 receptions, 234 receiving yards, and four touchdowns.

This season Gaskin is joined by Chase Edmonds, who previously was with the Arizona Cardinals, Raheem Mostert, who previously played for Mike McDaniels with the 49ers, and former first round pick Sony Michel.

The Dolphins’ backfield is different than the other three in the AFC East as there are no clear roles for each of these players. The reason is that outside of Michel, the other three are very well-rounded and can be effective on the ground or in the air.

It will be interesting going through training camp and into the season, who emerges as the top running back, and how the workload is divided among the four running backs.
