3. player. 47. . . . Mac Jones

Next on the list is another quarterback who was drafted in the first round of last year’s NFL Draft with the New England Patriots selecting Mac Jones with the 15th pick. Jones would have more success as a rookie than Zack Wilson with 3,801 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

The Patriots would also make the playoffs last year but there is a case to be made more that this was an accomplishment of the organization and not necessarily because of Mac Jones. Bill Belichick understands the limitations of a rookie quarterback and didn’t ask him to do too much. They were able to get to the playoffs more due to their defense and a strong run game.

However, Jones still had to do his part and did a good job of protecting the football with only 10 interceptions in the final 14 regular season games. Entering his second season, the question will be whether the Patriots put more on Jones in terms of leading the offense and winning games versus just managing the offense.
