Adrain Amos

The first three players on this list could find themselves being the top paid safety in the NFL after their new deal considering they are still early in their career and have been productive early.

The player that could be the closest in terms of comparisons for a new contract would be Green Bay Packers’ safety Adrian Amos, who also is entering the final year of his current contract.

Amos is a similar player to Poyer in the way he can contribute to a defense’s success from dropping back into coverage and forcing turnovers and deflecting passes to being closer to the line of scrimmage and pressuring the quarterback.

He is also closer in age to Poyer as Amos will be 29 years old this season and Green Bay may consider a shorter extension, like two or three years, which is something that the Buffalo Bills would be looking at in a potential extension for Jordan Poyer.

The last contract that Amos signed with the Packers was in 2019 which averaged $9 million per season and Poyer signed a similar contract one year later with an average salary of $9.75 million.

If Amos does agree to a contract extension prior to Poyer this summer, this will likely be the best indication of what might be expected if the Buffalo Bills and Jordan Poyer are able to agree to a new deal.
