The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field today as they started their second week of organized team activities (OTAs). Prior to practice on Tuesday, the Bills’ new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey spoke with the media.
The Bills know Dorsey well as he previously was the quarterback coach for the team, a position he had held since 2019. He was named offensive coordinator this offseason after Brian Daboll left to be the next head coach for the New York Giants.
While there may be some things that remain the same with the offense, Dorsey will undoubtedly bring different aspects to this group and try to build on what has worked so well in the past.
Ken Dorsey is undecided where he will call plays for the Buffalo Bills on game day
One of the big questions for the Buffalo Bills and Ken Dorsey is where he will call plays this upcoming season. When Brian Daboll first joined the Bills as offensive coordinator in 2018, he called plays on the sideline before moving up to the booth the past few seasons.
On Tuesday, Ken Dorsey was asked if he has decided where he will call plays and he said no decision has been made yet and they will use preseason and training camp to determine what the best option is, according to Chris Brown.
Dorsey: have not made a decision on whether I’ll be upstairs or down for games. Will try both in preseason & go with what feels best. #Bills

There are certainly benefits to both as in the booth, it helps get a clear view of the field and what the opposing defense is trying to do. However, if he is on the sidelines then it is easier to communicate with the players, particularly Josh Allen, and get an understanding of what they are seeing.
One thing that is clear is that there will likely be a learning period for this offense and Ken Dorsey but the hope is that most of this will be worked out during the offseason and training camp and not carry over into the season.
