Buffalo Bills Position of Concern: Cornerback

There is no question that this group has great potential with Tre’Davious White, first round draft pick Kaiir Elam and nickel corner Taron Johnson. However, entering this season there are plenty of questions that could make this probably the weakest group on the defensive side of the ball.

The strength of this group really hinges on Tre’Davious White and if he is ready to start the season after suffering a torn ACL. And not just necessarily ready to start the season but play near a level he has shown in the past.

If White is able to play, it takes some pressure off Elam to get used to the NFL and be that second cornerback for this defense.

However, if White is not able to play then the team likely looks to Elam and Dane Jackson as the starters which seems like something opposing teams can take advantage of.

The other concern is the depth after these four cornerbacks as it is a very inexperienced group with only a combined four starts between eight players and Cam Lewis has three of those starts.

This is a group that the coaching staff will be looking at very closely and if there is any concern, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a veteran signed between OTAs and training camp.
