The Buffalo Bills added Von Miller and Shaq Lawson at the position this offseason. Can Kingsley Jonathan make the 53-man roster as a rookie?

The Buffalo Bills have always put an emphasis on their defensive line under Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. The reason is that they rotate players regularly during the game so depth is important on this part of the roster.

One player that is going to try and break into that rotation is Kingsley Jonathan, who played the past five years just down I-90 at Syracuse, and was signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 NFL Draft.

Height: 6’4″

Weight: 260 pounds

Kingsley Jonathan appeared in 43 games over five seasons at Syracuse University. He had 100 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for a loss, and 15 sacks with four passes defended.

Jonathan was relatively consistent during his time with the Orange and his best season was in 2018 when he had five sacks and six tackles for a loss.

Scouting Report on Pro Football Network

"Jonathan is an intelligent defensive lineman who got the most from his ability on the college level, yet he lacks size and athleticism for the NFL."

Kingsley Jonathan is a long shot at making the Buffalo Bills’ 53-man roster

The former Syracuse pass rusher is going to have a tough time at making the 53-man roster this season with the moves the Buffalo Bills made. The team added Von Miller and Shaq Lawson in this free agency and already had three players on the roster they have drafted in the first or second round recently with Greg Rousseau, Boogie Basham, and A.J. Epenesa.

If the Buffalo Bills decide to keep six defensive ends, then Jonathan has a chance at that final spot but it will likely be that he is playing for a spot on the team’s practice squad this upcoming season.
