2. G Derek Kerstetter, Texas

With 49 career starts, Derek Kerstetter comes to the Buffalo Bills with a wealth of high Division I experience. He was named to the Coaches All-Big 12 Team this past season, and it was sort of a surprise that he was not picked by anyone late in the draft. Kerstetter played center, guard, and tackle in college, the ultimate trifecta for a lineman. His positional versatility is important when projecting him to the next level.

Although Kerstetter is leaner than you would desire with your inside lineman, he can move well. A special puller Kerstetter uses his agility and lateral movement skills to get blocks out in the open and move to the second level. He struggles with pushing and moving powerful defensive linemen, but he has not been that player.

Kerstetter reminds me of a young Ryan Bates. Kerstetter may not have the power or push to be dominant, but he has the positional versatility the Buffalo Bills love and the movement skills to be an asset in the open field as a blocker. Kerstetter may have trouble making the roster, but a practice squad spot could easily be earned based on his versatility alone.
