Buffalo Bills 2022 NFL Draft Day 3 Target: Matt Araiza

One position that the Buffalo Bills could find a starter on Day 3 is at punter and the best player at that position in this year’s class is Matt Araiza out of Arizona State University. Last year, Araiza made 79 punts with an average of 51.2 yards per punt and a long of 86 yards.

This is a position that Buffalo certainly has questions about after a down year for Matt Haack. The team signed Haack as a free agent last offseason but he struggled with his consistency and is a player that is not known for having a strong leg, and this was evident last year.

There is typically only a handful of kickers and punters drafted every year but when considering the Bills don’t have many glaring needs, they could use one of their picks, potentially even their fifth round pick, to select Matt Araiza and solidify their special teams for years to come after selecting Tyler Bass two years ago.
