After attacking cornerback and running back with the Buffalo Bills’ first two picks, the Bills select Terrel Bernard with the 89th overall selection.
The Buffalo Bills select Terrel Bernard with the 89th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft
Terrel Bernard adds immediate help to their linebackers, though, he might not be a complete game wrecker.
While their name isn’t as well known as some other players on the Buffalo Bills or the remaining draft board— like Stefon Diggs (5th round, 146 overall) or Jordan Poyer (7th round, 218 overall)— that doesn’t mean they’re going to be irrelevant in the NFL.
In fact, this player was drafted at a higher pick than Diggs or Poyer, so who’s to say they won’t be better?
At Baylor, Terrel Bernard plays with speed and physicality, and in four years as a starter at Baylor, Bernard accumulated 317 tackles, 16.5 sacks, and three interceptions. Not too bad, that’s for sure.
Bernard isn’t someone you should look only at the stat sheet for, as their game transcended above the numbers they put on the sheet.
That being said, it’ll be interesting to see how quickly they make an impact on the defensive side of the ball.
As is very apparent by now, the AFC isn’t getting any easier, so if the Buffalo Bills want a shot to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, it’s in the Bills’ best interest that Terrel Bernard is all that and a bag of marbles.
For those that don’t understand that phrase, let’s just hope the kid can come into Buffalo and show Bills mafia what they’re made of. Even if it’s a minimal role in their rookie year, the Bills drafting Terrel Bernard 89th overall could be looked back on as a truly important draft selection years down the road.
