The running back position is one that has not been prioritized early in NFL Drafts in the past few years. Last year, two running backs were drafted in the first round (Najee Harris and Travis Etienne) but they were drafted with back-to-back picks at 24 and 25.

This year though, it appears that no running back will go in the first round according to Pro Football Talk. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t good running backs this year but rather teams aren’t willing to use an early pick.

The Bills are a team that could make sense for them to draft a running back early with the limited number of roster needs. However, knowing that other teams aren’t going to prioritize the position, it would be smart to trade back before selecting someone like Breece Hall.

The former Iowa State running back is arguably the best in this year’s NFL Draft and he has the talent to make an impact as a rookie. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him become the featured running back by the end of the season and surpass Devin Singletary.

If the Buffalo Bills trade back in the first round, a player like Breece Hall would be an excellent player to target.
