7th Round

WR Slade Bolden, Alabama

Measurables: 5-11, 194lbs

Even with the addition of Jamison Crowder, the Buffalo Bills will really miss Cole Beasley. Beasley’s ability to get open in man coverage and against zone will be so reliable when it comes to locating and getting first downs, which made him an All-Pro in 2020.

Slade Bolden may be a little bigger than Beasley, but he actually plays similar to Cole Beasley. Bolden was often a safety net for Bryce Young and Alabama on third down. Bolden has excellent hands and is really good at getting open.

You would never think he would be drafted when you look at Bolden on paper with stats or athletic testing. However, when you watch him play, you can almost see it. This pick is less about skill, stat, or metric. It is based on the fact that Bolden knows how to get open, and you can never have enough guys who know how to get open.

There may not be a spot for Bolden on the Bills roster, but this seventh round pick is a longshot to make the roster anyway. The Bills could stash Bolden on the practice squad or even maybe take an extra receiver on the roster.

Also Available in the Seventh Round

LB Malcolm Rodriguez, Oklahoma State

A solid athlete, Malcolm Rodriguez is a well-rounded linebacker who could challenge some of the Bills depth linebackers for a roster spot. A team captain and leader for Oklahoma State teams will like his football IQ and lack of any non-athletic related weaknesses.

S Bubba Bolden, Miami

Bubba Bolden has excellent size at 6-3 and 200lbs. He could be a developmental guy that potentially takes over for Jordan Poyer or Micah Hyde. Bolden could excel on special teams in the meantime, using his size and athleticism to excel there.
