Breaking down Stefon Diggs’ 4-year extension with the Buffalo Bills

At $104 million, Diggs’ contract ranks third in the NFL behind Davante Adams ($140 million) and Tyreek Hill ($120 million) for wideouts, as both of those guys got new deals this offseason. Most people were right that those moves would affect Diggs’ potential deal, but now that it’s here, it may not have been as bad as some feared.

Since joining Buffalo in 2020, Diggs’ 230 receptions rank third behind Adams (238) and Cooper Kupp (237) for the most in the league. He also ranks fourth in the league in yards since then, only behind Justin Jefferson, Adams, and Kupp, as well tying for eighth in receiving TDs over the last two seasons.

So Diggs could have easily asked for a deal worth anywhere between Adams’ and Hill’s. But him taking a deal that is $16-$36 million below that, and also one that makes him one of only four $100-million receivers in the game, it gives the Bills the flexibility needed to build around Allen as his $258 million deal will start affecting the cap in 2023.
