5 best trick plays by the Buffalo Bills over the past 20 years
2009: Brian Moorman to Ryan Denney for a touchdown
In 2009, the Buffalo Bills were squarely in the middle of their playoff drought and during that stretch one of their top players was punter Brian Moorman. This certainly highlights how bad the Bills were during that time.
However, early in the 2009 season, the Bills’ punter looked more like the quarterback in a game against the New Orleans Saints. With the team down 7-0 early in the second quarter, Rian Lindell came on to attempt a field goal.
Or so the Saints thought.
After taking the snap, Moorman would roll out to his left and looked like he was going to try and run for a first down. However, he stopped and threw a perfect pass to defensive end Ryan Denney who was running down the sideline and would score a touchdown to tie the game up.
This would end up being Moorman’s final pass attempt of his career and he certainly made the most of it.
