The Buffalo Bills don’t have many glaring needs ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft later this month. This could mean they have some flexibility with their picks, particularly late, that allows them to take some risks on players with high potential but are likely a few years from contributing.

One of those players could be former University of Miami quarterback D’Eriq King, who according to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network is getting interest from a number of teams. One of those teams happens to be the Buffalo Bills.

"Beyond an invitation to the Miami Hurricanes Pro Day, King (5-foot-9, 196 pounds) has drawn interest from the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks, according to a league source."

King could be utilized in a number of different ways in the Buffalo Bills’ offense

While King did play quarterback in college it sounds like he is going to attempt to shift to wide receiver in the NFL, particularly slot receiver. The Bills have some questions now at that spot after releasing Cole Beasley last month.

He is likely to be replaced by either Jamison Crowder or Isaiah McKenzie however Crowder is playing on a one-year deal while McKenzie signed only a two-year deal this offseason. This could give King a few years to develop and become that starter

In the article, Wilson also notes the potential of utilizing King as a threat at quarterback in the red zone and near the goal line. This is something that Josh Allen does better than anyone in the league and one of the reasons this offense is as dynamic as it is.

However, if the coaching staff wants to limit the hits for Allen they could have a player like King take some of that work. Another potential idea is if Allen is forced to miss time, Case Keenum would be the backup who doesn’t have the same mobility and the Bills could look to King to help keep that part of their offense.
