Josh Allen doesn’t appear to entertain the idea of Stefon Diggs leaving

Josh Allen gives his thoughts on Stefon Diggs potentially leaving the Buffalo Bills

Over the past two weeks, two of the best wide receivers in the NFL have been traded after the Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and then the Kansas City Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

These were certainly two trades that were surprising and rumors on social media have started to circulate about Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver Stefon Diggs. While there has not been any indication that general manager Brandon Beane is entertaining the idea, that hasn’t stopped players from making their feelings known.

One notable player is Stefon’s brother, Trevon Diggs who is a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys. He took to Twitter on Saturday to say that he has always wanted to play with his brother and would like to see Diggs in Dallas.

Josh Allen has a short reply to the idea of Stefon Diggs leaving

The official Twitter account for SportsCenter tweeted a screenshot of Trevon Diggs’ tweet and on Saturday evening, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had the simple response of “No.”

This certainly is not surprising as Allen and Diggs have both seen their careers reach new levels since the Buffalo Bills traded for Stefon Diggs before the 2020 season. During that stretch, Diggs has made the Pro Bowl twice with over 100 receptions each season and led the league in 2020 in receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535).

Meanwhile, Josh Allen has become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and leads one of the top passing offenses in the league. He has over 8,900 passing yards and 73 passing touchdowns in those seasons.

While the results are undeniable on the field, there is certainly a business side of the NFL and the Buffalo Bills will likely have to discuss a new contract with Diggs at some point this summer, especially with the contracts Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill have received this year. Earlier this month, Brandon Beane was on WGR550 and said according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com:

"“We’ll look at everything,” he said. “Definitely guys that have higher cap numbers like that you look at everything, whether it’s restructuring it, adding years. We’ll look at everything. You can definitely know we will look at Stef’s contract at some point and see if there is something that makes sense for both sides. But we haven’t begun any conversations with him at this point.”"

This is not surprising from Beane as he has typically worked the bigger long-term extensions in the summer and during training camp. Over the past few years, they have gotten extensions done with Tre’Davious White, Dion Dawkins, and Josh Allen during this time of the year.

The Buffalo Bills under Brandon Beane have shown an ability to get these types of deals done in due time and there is no reason to think otherwise at this point. However, if Stefon Diggs were to be traded, Josh Allen’s response would likely be longer than one word.
