Round 5, Pick 168: Matt Araiza, P Arizona State

In the final round of this mock draft, I broke away from The Draft Network and selected a player that is not in the database. While kicking specialists are not often selected, and the fifth round may be too early, this is a pick that just makes too much sense for the Buffalo Bills.

After a tough season for Matt Haack, the Buffalo Bills should absolutely be considering drafting a punter when considering where the rest of the roster currently stands. The Bills agreed to a new deal with Haack that essentially keeps him under contract through the 2022 season but also makes it easier to move on if Haack were to lose a training camp battle.

The best punter in this year’s draft class is Matt Araiza out of Arizona State, who has the nickname ‘Punt God’. This past season he had 18 punts go over 60 yards with two that traveled 80 or more yards according to his scouting report on NFL.com.

Must Read. 4 cornerbacks still available the Bills should consider. light

There is a chance that Araiza goes before the fifth round but if he is here at this point of the NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills should jump at the chance to draft Araiza and solidify the position for the foreseeable future.
