Round 5, Pick 167: Thayer Munford, IOL (Ohio State)

For the second year in a row, the Buffalo Bills draft players essentially at the same position in back to back rounds on the offensive line. Last year, Buffalo drafted Spencer Brown and Tommy Doyle with consecutive picks and in this mock draft select Thayer Munford in the fifth round after selecting West.

Munford also has position versatility as he played left tackle for Ohio State before moving inside to left guard this past season. The question around Munford is whether or not he is a better tackle or guard moving forward.

As Kyle Crabbs notes in his scouting report, Munford looked better at left tackle in 2020 than he did at left guard this past season. Regardless of where he ends up, adding a player like Munford helps improve the depth along the offensive line and has shown enough that the Buffalo Bills should feel confident that they could develop him into being a potential starter.
