Kaiir Elam has been a popular first-round pick in mock drafts for the Buffalo Bills.

He boasts incredible length for the cornerback position and is a great scheme fit for the Buffalo Bills after playing in a zone-heavy system in college. Elam has an extremely high ceiling for his coverage skills at the next level. Elam does a fantastic job of making plays from zone coverage using football instincts to break up passes.

Elam can make money at the Combine with some of the speed and agility drills. The former Florida Gators’ cornerback has shown on tape that he can keep up with practically all the SEC receivers meaning he should test well. However, teams may shy away from Elam if he displays any lack of speed or agility that you would want in one of your team’s top cornerbacks. Elam has shown a great change of direction, and good scores at the combine will just confirm what everyone can see on film.

Elam is a solid fit with the Bills because he gives them perfect length opposite Tre’Davious White. While Elam may struggle a little defending the run, he should be a solid addition to one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Because of the talent surrounding Elam, he likely would be targeted a lot, meaning his ball skills could be very valuable for the Buffalo Bills. Not only is he a scheme fit, but a size fit in Buffalo.
