Was the 2020 season a fluke for Josh Allen?

In 2020, Josh Allen broke out and had an incredible season that earned him a Pro Bowl selection and finished second in the MVP race. The Bills front office had seen enough from that season that they signed him to one of the biggest contracts in NFL history prior to the 2021 season.

While the Bills were confident he could replicate that performance, there were some questions about whether or not he would regress. It has been rare in the NFL to see a player improve as much as Allen has and sustain that level over multiple seasons.

By the end of the season, there was some statistical regression from Josh Allen but he certainly looked as good as he did the previous season. He also took significant steps forward in the playoffs to the point where opposing defenses just looked like they didn’t have an answer for him.

While Josh Allen didn’t earn any of the season awards that he did a year prior, Josh Allen showed he is not going away any time soon and is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
