These are the key dates in the Buffalo Bills offseason this year

The Buffalo Bills season ended less than two weeks ago in heartbreaking fashion to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. Since that game, plenty has changed with the Buffalo Bills losing Brian Daboll, who was offensive coordinator for the past four years, to the New York Giants who named him head coach.

The Bills also have already found his replacement in Ken Dorsey, who has been quarterback coach the past three years and helped Josh Allen become one of the top quarterbacks in the league. While plenty has changed, there is still a lot of offseason ahead and these are some key dates to keep in mind over the next few months.

Here is a look ahead for important dates in the Buffalo Bills offseason

East-West Shrine Bowl (February 3rd) / Senior Bowl (February 5th)

The unofficial start of the NFL Draft season is this week with scouts and front office personnel heading to the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas and the Senior Bowl in Mobile to get their first close look at some of the players in this year’s draft class.

NFL Combine (March 1st-March 7th)

The next big stop in the NFL Draft season will come about a month later in Indianapolis when the NFL will hold their annual combine. Once again, this is a great opportunity for teams to talk with players in this year’s draft class.

Deadline for Franchise/Transition Tags (March 8th)

The deadline for teams to decide whether or not they will use the franchise or transition tag is one day after the NFL Combine. This is typically not something the Bills have done and based on who is potentially going to be free agents, it would be hard to imagine they would use it this offseason.

Free Agent ‘Legal Tampering Period’ (March 14th-March 16th)

Before the official start of the new league year and free agency, teams are given two days to talk with the agents of players who are set to be free agents. While teams can agree to deals, nothing can be signed until March 16th.

New League Year Begins at 4 PM (March 16th)

At 4 PM EST, the new league year begins for the NFL and this is when teams are allowed to talk to players and officially sign any new free agents.

2022 NFL Draft (April 28th-April 30th)

While there aren’t any official dates over the next six weeks, it is a busy time in the Buffalo Bills offseason. The front office will be trying to re-sign any players that were on the team previously, sign any new free agents but also work out draft prospects and start to put together a list of players they want to target in the 2022 NFL Draft.
