Carolina Panthers

Another team that is in a tough position after picking up a fifth-year option is the Carolina Panthers. They traded for Sam Darnold in the last offseason and picked up the option which almost certainly guarantees he once again is on the roster in 2022.

Sam Darnold got off to a great start with the Panthers by averaging 297 passing yards in the first four games with 10 total touchdowns and three interceptions. However, since that start he has struggled and missed a number of games after being placed on injured reserve.

The Panthers have a good group of playmakers with wide receivers D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and of course running back Christian McCaffrey. This has the potential to be a good offense but they need better play from the quarterback.

The thought process for the Panthers would be similar to the Browns in that they bring a high-upside quarterback like Mitchell Trubisky to compete with Sam Darnold and hopefully get some better play at the position.
