Mitchell Trubisky is set to be a free agent after the season and the Buffalo Bills backup quarterback should have a robust free agent market
This offseason is setting up to be really interesting when it comes to the quarterback position. The rumors have already begun with names like Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Deshaun Watson potentially being on the move and Ben Roethlisberger hinting at retiring.
The Buffalo Bills are fortunate that they don’t need to worry about who their starting quarterback is with Josh Allen agreeing to a contract extension last year and once again playing at a very high level. However, this offseason their backup, Mitchell Trubisky, could be highly sought after.
Trubisky joined the Bills last offseason on a one-year deal that at the time was described as a reset after coming off an up and down start to his career with the Chicago Bears.
While there are some teams that will certainly be pursuing some of the top-named quarterbacks, there are a number of other teams that can’t afford that due to the salary cap or doesn’t make sense with their current quarterback situation.
