Buffalo Bills’ defensive line brings the pressure

Matt Ryan has been one of the most sacked quarterbacks this year with 32 entering Week 17, which is tied for the 10th highest total in the NFL. On Sunday, the Bills defense got after the former MVP and sacked him five times, with the defensive line accounting for four of those.

The Bills found success particularly up the middle as Ed Oliver and Harrison Phillips each had a sack with Greg Rousseau and Mario Addison also adding one as well. The fifth sack came from Taron Johnson, who came on a blitz for the first sack of the game.

At times this year, the pass rush has disappeared but on Sunday the Bills got great penetration by this group. One player in particular that did a great job was Harrison Phillips, who had three QB hits along with the sack. This continues a great string of games for the fourth-year defensive tackle and he has become a big part of this defense in the second half of the year.
