Another player on the offensive line who may have earned himself a new contract after the season is Ryan Bates. The Bills traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for Bates during training camp in the 2019 season and he has remained with the team since then.

Similar to Boettger, he has primarily been a reserve offensive lineman for the Bills but this season has started to see more playing time. The reason Buffalo should be considering bringing him back is his versatility.

Bates can essentially play every position on the offensive line from offensive tackle, which was the position he played most of his college career at Penn State, to more recently getting a start at guard for the Bills this past week against the Patriots.

Aside from the most recent start, Bates has also been used as a sixth offensive lineman on run downs at different points of the season, playing between 5-10 snaps each week since Week 10.

The experience in this offensive scheme, combined with his position versatility, it seems like this would be a great cost efficient move to help the offensive line.
