The Buffalo Bills decided to start the game with rookie Spencer Brown at left tackle even with Dion Dawkins active in Week 16

The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that left tackle Dion Dawkins would be activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list. He was placed on the list last Friday before the game against the Carolina Panthers and Spencer Brown got the start at left tackle in that game.

However, even with Dawkins active for this game, the coaching staff has decided to stick with the rookie Spencer Brown at left tackle. This means that Daryl Williams started the game at right tackle and Ryan Bates got the start today at right guard with Jon Feliciano and Cody Ford both on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Buffalo Bills could have started Spencer Brown at left tackle for a few different reasons

It remains to be seen the reason why the Bills elected to stick with Spencer Brown at left tackle as it could have been for a few reasons. The first is that Dawkins has not been able to practice at all this week and his conditioning may not be at the level necessary to play the entire game.

He could just be active for this game as an emergency left tackle if there are any injuries on the offensive line.

The other reason may be that the coaching staff has seen these five players that are starting practice the entire week together. They could feel confident in this group and not want to make changes at three positions to get Dawkins on the field.

This part of the offense is certainly worth watching and if the Bills elect to make changes during the game if the offensive line struggles to protect Josh Allen against the New England Patriots.
