Spencer Brown struggles at left tackle

What has seemingly been a constant theme for most of the season, the Buffalo Bills once again were forced to shuffle their offensive line with both Dion Dawkins and Jon Feliciano on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

This week though it was a new challenge as this was the first game all season with Dion Dawkins. The Bills didn’t have a clear backup to Dawkins and the responsibility fell on rookie Spencer Brown, who has primarily played right tackle this year.

The fact that Dawkins was added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday probably meant that Brown did not have much practice time at left tackle and was going to be asked to slow down Brian Burns.

It was a tough position to be in and Brown did struggle with five penalties (four accepted). However, there may not have been a worse penalty than in the fourth quarter when Brown was called for taunting at the end of a first down run by Devin Singletary. He was actually taken out after that penalty for that drive and replaced by Tommy Doyle but would return on the next drive.

There is no question that Spencer Brown was in a tough spot and the biggest takeaway is that hopefully, Dion Dawkins can be back for next week’s game.
