With Emmanuel Sanders listed as doubtful, Gabriel Davis will have an increased role
Emmanuel Sanders did not practice all week and is listed on the injury report as doubtful. If Sanders’ knee injury keeps him out of the lineup, Gabriel Davis will have more opportunities to contribute.
Davis has played a more limited role for the Bills this season but he is tied for third on the Bills with four receiving touchdowns. He has been on the field for less than 50 percent of offensive snaps for the majority of the season. But that should change this week.
When Davis sees significant time on offense, he is usually productive. And the depth he provides to a talented Bills receiving corps is immeasurable.
Over the last five weeks, Davis has averaged just 50 yards per game. But when the Bills need a critical play, Davis’ chances improve with defenses keying on Stefon Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders.
Against the Panthers, Davis’ role will undoubtedly increase with Sanders not expected to play. His versatility to take the top off of defenses, or act as a possession receiver between the lines, adds another dimension to what the Bills can do on offense.
All of the last four games for Buffalo are winnable. With a Patriots loss on Saturday, the Bills control their destiny. If they win the next four games, they’ll win the division and host a playoff game for the second straight season.
