The Buffalo Bills-Carolina Panthers connection

Ever since the Buffalo Bills hired Sean McDermott as their head coach, who prior to that was defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, the two franchises have been closely linked. A few months after McDermott was hired, the Bills hired Brandon Beane as general manager, who also previously was with the Carolina Panthers.

The Bills have hired coaches like Ken Dorsey (currently QB coach) and Eric Washington (currently defensive line coach) who also coached for the Panthers prior to joining Buffalo.

It isn’t just the coaches as the Bills over the years have added a number of former Panthers like Mike Tolbert, Kelvin Benjamin, and Kurt Coleman. Former Panthers currently on the roster include Mario Addison, Efe Obada, Vernon Butler, Star Lotulelei, Andre Smith, and Daryl Williams.

While the Buffalo Bills won’t see many familiar faces on the other sideline with Ron Rivera and most of his coaching staff gone, this game will certainly carry some significance with so many people within the organization formerly associated with the Panthers.
