While Josh Allen still has plenty of football left in his career, this game is probably going to be one that ends up in lists of his best games in the NFL. He essentially became the entire offense with a career high 54 pass attempts, completing 36 of them, for 308 passing yards while also running the ball 12 times for 109 yards, which is the second highest total in his career, and three total touchdowns.

The stats by themselves are impressive but when considering the circumstances around this game, it really helps frame the significance of the performance. The most notable is that he was going up against arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, Tom Brady.

Brady had an excellent start to the game and it wouldn’t have been surprising to see the Bills fold, like they had so many times during the drought. However, when a team has a franchise quarterback like Josh Allen they are never out of it.

While Josh Allen has a long way to go to even think about matching Tom Brady’s resume, and he probably will never get there. However, on Sunday he looked like the best quarterback on the field in that moment in time as Chris Simms tweeted.
