The Buffalo Bills starting middle linebacker finished the game with six total tackles and one tackle for a loss. However, his impact, or lack thereof, goes beyond the box score.

This week against the New England Patriots, Edmunds looked lost and was constantly hitting the wrong gap or over-running the ball carrier. A perfect example was on Damien Harris’ 64-yard touchdown run. In this tweet by Bill Barnwell, Edmunds (number 49) looks like he is thinking the play is to the outside but over pursues and Harris is able to cut back and is gone.

Tremaine Edmunds is a player with incredible potential due to the size and athleticism he brings to the position. At only 23 years of age, he still has plenty of time to reach that potential but after nearly four full seasons in the same defensive scheme, these are not the mistakes that he can keep making.
