Buffalo Bills must build an early lead

Since the bye week, the Buffalo Bills haven’t really been getting off to a fast start. In fact, they have averaged only 8.7 points scored in the first half during this stretch and only scored more than 14 points in the first two quarters once.

The reason the Bills need to build an early lead is twofold. The first is that the New England Patriots defense has been very good in the second half the past four weeks and has not allowed a single point during that stretch.

The other reason is that the Patriots are at their best when they are ahead on the scoreboard. The reason is that they can lean on their run game and not put too much pressure on Mac Jones. This is not a team that is built to be an explosive offense and wants to grind their opponents down.

If the Buffalo Bills can build an early lead, it will force the Patriots to ask more of Mac Jones and they will need to get away from the formula that has allowed them to be so successful.
