Now with Tre’Davious White out for the season, the pressure is on Levi Wallace to step up in this Buffalo Bills defense.

The rest of the season got much tougher for the Buffalo Bills with the news that Tre’Davious White is done for the season. He suffered a torn ACL on Thanksgiving night against the New Orleans Saints and the Bills must now go the rest of the year without their top cornerback.

The Bills must now determine who will be the player to replace him, and they have some options currently within the organization. However, they could also look at adding a free agent or two to help with the depth at the position.

While the Buffalo Bills will find a player to replace Tre’Davious White’s spot on the defense, this replacement is unlikely to fill the former Pro Bowl’s role. A role that usually saw White lining up against the opposing offense’s best wide receiver.

This responsibility will likely fall on Levi Wallace, who now moves up on the depth chart and into that top spot at cornerback.

Can Levi Wallace elevate his play for the Buffalo Bills?

For the better part of four seasons, Levi Wallace has been the starting cornerback opposite Tre’Davious White and has 46 starts with six interceptions and 28 passes defended. He has been up and down in this role but this season has been playing better and with a little more consistency.

However, moving forward will look very different because it will likely be Wallace who takes over for Tre’Davious White. This means that now every week Levi Wallace will be asked to stop the best wide receiver on the other team.

These are certainly big shoes to fill but he knows this defense well and he is the veteran of the group. He will need to lead by example and the coaching staff should view Wallace to be that “next man up” replacing Tre’Davious White while it will be Dane Jackson or Cam Lewis replacing his role in this defense.
