Tre’Davious White leaves Week 12 early with knee injury
The Buffalo Bills are off to a fast start in their Thanksgiving showdown with the New Orleans Saints by building a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter. However, the team could potentially be forced to hold onto that lead without their top cornerback.
Tre’Davious White, who is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, was forced to leave the game due to a knee injury. Katherine Fitzgerald with The Buffalo News tweeted that the Buffalo Bills top cornerback was walking to the locker room with a towel over his head, which is not necessarily a good sign for his availability moving forward.
The Buffalo Bills PR tweeted that White was doubtful to return in Week 12.
The Bills will now turn to second-year corner Dane Jackson to replace Tre’Davious White.
Any time without Tre’Davious White would be a big loss for the Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have one of the best secondaries in the NFL and this is due in large part to Tre’Davious White. He was the first pick by Sean McDermott as head coach of the Bills in the 2017 NFL Draft when they selected him 27th overall out of LSU.
He stepped into the starting lineup right from the start as a rookie and has only missed three games over his five-year career. During that stretch, White has 16 interceptions and 59 passes defended. He has made the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019 when he was tied for the league lead in interceptions with six.
It remains to be seen how much time the Buffalo Bills cornerback could miss but any time missed will certainly change the dynamic of this secondary. The Bills don’t necessarily have great depth with Jackson and Siran Neal the only two active cornerbacks for this game with players like Cam Lewis on the 53-man roster and undrafted free agents Olaijah Griffin and Nick McCloud on the practice squad.
