The Buffalo Bills offense struggled yesterday against the Indianapolis Colts and the run game in particular has been an issue all season. However, one lesson that came out of the game this past week, combined with the week prior, is that Matt Breida not only should be more involved but should see a majority of the work moving forward.

The veteran running back was active the first two weeks of the season but only saw a total of 12 snaps. He was a healthy scratch from Week 3-9 before playing in Week 10 against the New York Jets where he once again didn’t play alot, only eight snaps, but had two touchdowns with one rushing and one receiving.

This past week against the Colts, that playing time increase to 18 snaps or 32% of the offensive plays for the Bills. He would finish the game leading the team in rushing attempts with five as well as rushing yards with 51. Matt Breida added a reception as well for 16 yards.

Matt Breida is going to be a bigger part of this offense moving forward

The Buffalo Bills will need to make some changes to the offense after another lackluster performance and one of those should be making Matt Breida a bigger part of this offense. This would be welcome news for fans playing fantasy football because at this point in the season it is tough to find players at the running back position that could be contributors and potential start on their team.

This is why Matt Breida needs to be a priority add this week when setting your waiver wire. He should move past both Devin Singletary and Zack Moss on the depth chart and be the primary running back. He is an explosive running back that also has shown an ability to contribute as a pass catcher.

In the past two games, Breida has 117 total yards from scrimmage with two total touchdowns. If the Bills decide to expand Matt Breida’s role moving forward, this could be a great find late in the season.
