Special Teams

This was not a good game for the special teams and it seemingly started right from the opening kickoff with Isaiah Rodgers taking the opening kick 33 yards. It would only go downhill from there with Tyler Bass missing two field goal attempts. These were not easy kicks by any means (from 56-yards and 49-yards) but Bass has been automatic from seemingly any distance.

However, it was Isaiah McKenzie who probably had the one play that was the turning point in this game. The Bills did get down 14-0 and then 17-7 but it still felt like it was in reach but after that Colts’ field goal, McKenzie tripped on the ensuing kickoff and fumbled the ball.

The Colts would recover, bring the ball down to the two-yard line and Jonathan Taylor would score his third touchdown of the game. This pushed the lead to 24-7 going into halftime and the Bills never threatened in the second half.

Buffalo Bills Team Grade for Week 11

This game was not like their performance in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. While it is worth saying the loss was disappointing, the Bills defense at least held their own and kept this team in the game.

However, this week against the Indianapolis Colts it was a failure in all three aspects of the game. The Bills offense couldn’t stay on the field, the defense couldn’t get off the field and the special teams seemingly couldn’t do anything right when on the field.

This was a failure across the board from the players to the coaches and unfortunately they don’t have much time to try and fix what is broken. The Buffalo Bills have a short week as they play the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving night.
