Defensive Ends

It was not a great game for the defensive line as a whole, and that includes the defensive ends. The Bills struggled to get any kind of penetration to stop the run or get any pressure on the quarterback.

The few times they did get close to Carson Wentz it didn’t result in a positive play for the Bills. Two examples that come to mind are Mario Addison being called for roughing the passer or the Colts quarterback breaking free in the backfield for an 18-yard scramble later in the drive.

Defensive Tackles

The Buffalo Bills faced an uphill climb without Star Lotulelei but even if their starting defensive tackle was active, it doesn’t seem like it would have made that much of a difference. The Colts’ offensive line dominated in the trenches and helped Jonathan Taylor have a career game against the Bills.

However, Ed Oliver does deserve for his play and the former first round pick continues to play at a high level. One play that won’t show up in the box score was that Oliver did record his first sack of the season but the play was negated due to a holding penalty by Taron Johnson.
