Josh Allen played well in the first half while under constant pressure

The Buffalo Bills once again had to shuffle their offensive line with Spencer Brown out, this time after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The team went back to the same starting offensive line from the Jaguars game with Cody Ford at right guard and Daryl Williams at right tackle.

While Allen statistically had a good first half with 132 passing yards and one touchdown, he was pressured at a high rate, according to ESPN’s Seth Walder.

The pressures didn’t impact the Buffalo Bills too much in the first half but this is not a recipe for success for this offense.

Bills’ defense struggles to get off the field in the first half

Aside from Jonathan Taylor, one of the big reasons for the struggles of the defense in the first half was their inability to stop the Colts on third down. The Bills were able to force five third down attempts in the first half but the Colts converted four of them.

In games between two good teams, these little things start to add up and that is why the Buffalo Bills found themselves down 17 at halftime.

Tyler Bass uncharacteristically unreliable against the Colts

This season Tyler Bass has been seemingly automatic this season but against the Colts it wasn’t the case. This is not to say it was a bad game for Bass because neither kick was necessarily easy as he missed a 56-yard attempt in the first half and a 49-yard attempt in the second half in a game impacted by the weather.
