Can the Buffalo Bills slow down Jonathan Taylor?

The Buffalo Bills defense is currently allowing the third-fewest rushing yards per game at 83.9 and outside of their game against Derrick Henry in Week 6, they have not allowed a running back to break the 100-yard mark. On the season, the Bills have allowed only seven rushing touchdowns but four of those game in that game against the Titans.

This week, the Bills face Jonathan Taylor who is the best running back they have seen since Henry. He currently is tied for first in the league in rushing yards with 937 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.

The Colts running back has broken the 100-yard mark five out of the last seven games and has at least one rushing touchdown in seven straight games.

It is going to be a challenge for this defense and unfortunately, the Bills could be without two key parts of their run defense. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds missed the last game against the Jets due to a hamstring injury and still wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday.

However, the bigger absence would be defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who is currently on the Reserve/COVID-19. He was placed on the list on Sunday morning and Sean McDermott said on Wednesday, he was unsure about his availability for this weekend.

If Lotulelei is not able to play, the pressure will be on Harrison Phillips and Vernon Butler to set the tone in the trenches and limit Jonathan Taylor’s running lanes.
