The Buffalo Bills are back on the practice field today as they begin their preparation for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Cots have one of the best running backs in the league in Jonathan Taylor which could be an issue for a defense that may be without a few starters.

On Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott announced starting middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds would not practice due to a hamstring injury. This was an injury that forced him to miss practice all last week as well as the game against the New York Jets.

If Edmunds is not able to play, this will be another opportunity for A.J. Klein to start. The veteran played well last week against the Jets and does a good job against the run.

Star Lotulelei remains on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the Buffalo Bills

The bigger absence for this defense, specifically pertaining to stopping the run, would be defensive tackle Star Lotulelei. He was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Sunday morning prior to the Jets game and McDermott confirmed he is still on the list.

According to Jon Scott, the Bills head coach did say he believes he is doing ok but hasn’t seen him.

The Buffalo Bills did add some depth earlier in the week by signing defensive tackle Eli Ankou to their practice squad. He was with the team during training camp and should be able to help if the need were to arise this weekend.

However, if Lotulelei is not able to play the players who will see a majority of the snaps would be Harrison Phillips and Vernon Butler.
