Spencer Brown is the key to the success of the offensive line

After selecting two defensive ends with their first two picks, the Buffalo Bills selected offensive tackle Spencer Brown in the third round. At the time, he was a bit of an unknown after playing at the University of Northern Iowa and not playing last year after his school canceled the season due to the pandemic.

There were questions about how long it might take Brown to get up to speed and be a consistent contributor at the NFL level. Well, that question was answered and Brown stepped in as the starting right tackle for the Bills in Week 4.

The offensive line struggled to start the year and the coaching staff made a switch before Week 4. The Bills were able to get Spencer Brown in at the starting right tackle, where he has played well, but also moved Daryl Williams inside to guard.

This season, Williams has struggled outside at offensive tackle but has looked better inside at guard. It also moves Cody Ford out of the starting lineup, which has helped as he has struggled this year.

The Buffalo Bills were without Brown in the first two games after the bye and the offensive line certainly missed him. However, he returned this week against the Jets and this group looked much better. Spencer Brown looks to not only be the best option at the right tackle this year but also the long-term answer at the position.
