Comeback Player of the Year- Star Lotulelei

The final award goes to defensive tackle Star Lotulelei who has returned this season and been a big part of the defensive front. The Bills didn’t have Lotulelei last season after he opted out of the season due to the pandemic.

He returned this year and stepped right back in as the starting defensive tackle alongside Ed Oliver. Lotulelei is one of those players that does the dirty work that makes the players around him better. He is asked to anchor the middle of the line, keep offensive linemen engaged and not allow them to get to the next level to block linebackers or safeties.

This season, the Bills are allowing only 83.9 rushing yards per game, which is the third-lowest total in the NFL. It also is a decrease of 35.7 yards per game from last year with Lotulelei, and Rousseau, being the only significant changes on this defense.

Similar to the selection of Dawson Knox and Josh Allen for their awards, this was an obvious selection for Comeback Player of the Year.
